Brahms & Tovey Trios

Anneke Scott (horns),

Neal Peres da Costa (piano)

 This programme partner one of Johannes Brahms's greatest chamber works, the Op. 40 "Horn Trio" with a work by the British composer Donald Tovey. Tovey, mostly known today for his writings on musical analysis, was a great friend of, and musical collaborator with the violinist Joseph Joachim, a musician whose works will also be included in this project.

 

Anneke Scott - contributor to Johannes Brahms in Context (Cambridge University Press, 2019) and principal horn of Sir John Eliot Gardiner's Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique with whom she has performed and recorded all of Brahms's large orchestral and choral works. Read more here...

Dr Robin Wilson - recipient of the prestigious international 2014 Karl Geiringer Prize from the American Brahms Society for his PhD research on the historically informed performance of Brahms's music and  member of acclaimed historical performance ensemble Ironwood. Read more here...
