You can become part of Anneke’s ‘virtual studio in a number of ways.

Play with a pro.

Anneke joined the online faculty of Play With A Pro back in 2016. This site, one of the first of its kind, offers students world wide to access some of the top players and teachers with horn teachers including Radovan Vlatkovic (international soloist), Andrew Bain (Principal horn of the Los Angeles Philharmonic), Jasper de Waal (Principal Horn of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe) andStefan Dohr (principal horn of the Berlin Philharmonic).

An advantage of lessons via this specialist site is that the platform is set up specifically to facilitate instrumental music lessons with clear, concise information provided to potential students as to how they can set things up in order to get the best experience of their lessons. There are other nice touches such as the online calendar which enables students to book lessons at times that suit them, free taster sessions of 15 minutes and the lessons are automatically recorded so students can watch back later in order to consolidate their learning.

Zoom/Skype lessons.

It’s also possible to have lessons with Anneke via Zoom/Skype/other platforms. Whilst this way misses some of the benefits of a specialist site such as www.playwithapro.com there are plenty of tips and tricks that Anneke can share as to how to tweak things in order to get the best learning experience possible. Please enquire here about booking sessions this way.

Send audio/video samples for feedback.

This often is a great idea for self motivated students who may have]a specific piece of repertoire or performance opportunity in mind.  A piece and goals can be chosen in advance, the student can then upload an audio or video recording of this work and Anneke can give written feedback guiding the student as to their next steps on working on this piece of music. Please enquire here about this way of studying.

Reviews from online students:

David Moldenhauer - New York, USA *****

Anneke is a world class performer and teacher. She is extraordinarily committed to learning and showing her students in an efficient and practical way how to understand and master the technique of the horn. She uses the work of the great valveless horn teachers and composers as a foundation for developing the fundamentals of our noble instrument. By showing me how to navigate the demands of producing music on the natural horn, Anneke has helped me better understand the composers' intent and expectations, whether playing on the valved or valveless horn. She has a boundless interest in, and vast knowledge of, the history of our instrument that she shares generously and enthusiastically. I could not wish for a better teacher.

Robin Beard - Sydney, Australia *****

Absolutely marvellous experience taking lessons with Anneke. I've played a horn for many years but, after deciding to dabble with a natural / hand horn, I needed guidance to help me with challenge’s I'd not faced before. Anneke is so helpful during our lessons, there is surely no-one with better knowledge of the historical horn and how to play it. She has given me great advice and tips during our lessons and is a pleasure to have as a teacher. The confidence I've built working with Anneke has lead me to perform solo Natural Horn pieces with my amateur brass sextet!

Julia MacDonell - London, UK *****

Anneke is undeniably passionate about period hand horn playing and the repertoire for the instrument and it follows that her knowledge of the technical aspects of the instrument and the nuances of the musicality required to play its music is pretty inspiring. As a teacher she is generous with her time, kind and thoughtful in lessons but not afraid to push a student where she thinks that student capable.
